Gwastedyn Church Trail

Discover a scenic and spiritually rich walking route that begins and ends in Rhayader - The Outdoors Capital of Wales, following an established pilgrimage path through the stunning landscapes of Mid Wales. This circular route takes in a variety of terrains—hill paths, disused railway lines, forest tracks, and peaceful minor roads—leading you to seven historic churches.

Along the way, you’ll pass through the picturesque Elan Valley, as well as the charming villages of St Harmon, Nantmel, Nantglas, Llanwrthwl, and finally return to Cwmdeuddwr, just across the river from Rhayader town centre. This walk offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, local heritage, and spiritual discovery.
